Simply put, there are children who have experienced deep hurts and pain, and they need loving, caring families to provide them with hope and healing.
Every year in the state of Texas there are approximately 30,000 children in the foster care system. These children have been removed from their homes through no fault of their own. They have been neglected and abused by the very people they trusted most. They need a family who can provide the patience and love necessary to overcome those traumas.
Unfortunately, there are simply not enough families to provide stable, loving homes for these children. In 2014, there were 31,176 Texas children in foster care but only 10,885 foster homes available.
“I never look at the masses as my responsibility. I look at the individual. I can love only one person at a time…Just one, one, one…The whole work is only a drop in the ocean. But if I didn’t put the drop in, the ocean would be one drop less. Same thing for you, same thing in your family, same thing in the church where you go. Just begin…one, one, one.”
The church can be the answer to this desperate situation. The church can intervene in the moment of distress and provide children in need with a loving family.
