my faith FAMILY is designed with the recognition that churches cannot be foster care agencies and foster care agencies cannot be churches. We each have our specific role to play in helping local children in need of families. Working together, each providing its unique services, these organizations can produce stronger foster families and healthier foster children.
We provide the training and materials to develop and administer the my faith FAMILY program, but the church takes ownership of their my faith FAMILY ministry, providing the leadership and volunteers to make the program succeed. This ensures that every church can find unique ways to integrate my faith FAMILY into their existing church mission and culture so that your church can become a part of the solution to the crisis in foster care.
Each church will appoint a my faith FAMILY Director who recruits volunteers—called Villagers—who surround each foster family in the congregation to provide the support they need to continue caring for their children. This will engage the outreach, evangelism, congregational care and youth ministries of your congregation, making my faith FAMILY ultimately a part of the church’s whole life.
