The process to become a foster parent isn’t very difficult, but it does take a bit of work. Typically the process takes between 3 and 6 months depending upon how quickly you complete documentation and required training.
Step 1: Fill out the inquiry form online and click “submit.”
Step 2: A member of our staff will contact you and provide you with an application.
Step 3: Attend a Meet and Greet event, if one is offered in your area (Meet & Greet events are not offered in all of our service areas) to ask questions and get introduced to some of the staff you’ll be working with throughout the licensing process.
Step 4: Participate in an interview with our staff to talk about your family and your interest in foster care and adoption.
Step 5: Schedule a home visit, complete any additional paperwork, finish background checks and complete FBI fingerprinting.
Step 6: Attend all required trainings. Please see the training calendar for training dates, times and locations.
Step 7: Once all documentation has been received, you’ll need to participate in the family assessment process (commonly called a home study) before a child is placed in your home.
Step 8: Care for a child in need and BE FOSTER PROUD!
If you’re confused about any step in the process, don’t worry, we have expert staff to help you through the process and answer all of your questions.
